As part of Auckland Transport’s VRU programme for road safety improvements, a new roundabout with raised crossings was constructed at the junction of Halsey Road and Maich Road, Manurewa. The works included a new central roundabout island, raised pedestrian crossings on all approaches, and upgrades to footpaths and stormwater.

 

 Safety will be enhanced for all road users in the vicinity, with reduced vehicle speeds on all approaches and a slower speed environment. In particular, pedestrian safety and amenity will be enhanced by the infrastructure upgrade.  TES was involved in scheme investigation, detailed designed and MSQA.  The project’s successful construction was another positive step towards ‘Vision Zero’.
